Want a new look? There's an app for that! Update your wardrobe, hair and makeup with your own "digital stylist."

❑ Establish “Screen Free Zones” including kids’ bedrooms and dinner table.

❑ Keep the computer in a public part of your home.

❑ Set media time allowances to limit screen time to less than 1 - 2 hours per day.

❑ Encourage screen-free playing, working on projects, being outside, reading, etc. to encourage creativity, problem solving and reasoning.

❑ Know what your kids are watching. Watch programs with them and discuss the values. Look for programs that are educational and teach good values. Be firm about not viewing content that is not age appropriate.

❑ Discuss with your children that every place they go on the Internet may be "remembered," and comments they make will stay there indefinitely.

❑ Talk to your kids about being good "digital citizens," and discuss the serious consequences of online bullying.

❑ Make sure kids of all ages know that it is not appropriate or smart to send or receive pictures of people without clothing, or sexy text messages, no matter whether they are texting friends or strangers.

❑ Become familiar with popular social media sites like Facebook, Snapchat, Twitter and Instagram and monitor their online presence. Anyone younger than 13 should not have accounts on social media sites.
